About the program

Originated in the former Federal College Foundation of Medical Sciences of Porto Alegre, the Graduate Program in Pathology began to expand its area of activity and target public in 2004, hosting interdisciplinary projects and bringing together students graduated in various areas of the health and technological development fields. The program also has post-doctoral students from various fields of knowledge linked to Capes’s Postdoctoral National Program, besides the possibility of granting scholarships and opportunities for national and international academic exchanges.

Graduate profile

After completing the Pathology program, the graduate will be able to teach in higher education, contributing to the training of professionals capable of applying scientific knowledge to transform the reality, in addition to independently developing research projects with innovative potential, based on the training of high critical capacity and scientific and technological productivity conferred by the program.

Infrastructure

The program’s students will have at their disposal a wide range of laboratories, such as research laboratories in pathology, cytogenetics, molecular and cell biology, bioinformatics, among others. In addition, UFCSPA provides the necessary IT resources to conduct the studies, giving access to databases, statistical analysis and bibliographic research. The university also offers the support of a research support unit, with statistical, epidemiological and IT consulting services for students.
