About the program

The Graduate Program in Nursing is the first professional master’s degree in Nursing created in a federal public institution in Rio Grande do Sul. The program emphasizes a performance of high-level professional qualification, articulating updated knowledge, expertise in scientific methodology and the fields of professional activity. It is expected that the academic and professional training of nurses will allow a transformation in the health and education services provided by them.

Graduate profile

The program aims to train motivated professionals to build new knowledge directed to the implementation of practices focused on innovation and qualification of health care and management in accordance with the principles and public policies of the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS). Based on the commitment of the program and of the professionals to SUS, the promotion of articulation between academic and professional knowledge is expected, resulting in the qualification of health practices to users on individual and collective levels.

Infrastructure

The Graduate Program in Nursing is provided with various laboratories located at UFCSPA’s main campus and in the Hospital Complex of Santa Casa de Misericórdia of Porto Alegre. The spaces function as multiuser laboratories, where several researchers of the institution can interact using equipment distributed in different areas of the Research Center for Graduate Programs.

Research lines

  • Innovative nursing practices and technologies in health care: It proposes to instrumentalize the process of caring, considering its historical, contemporaneous and ethical aspects. It covers the development, use and/or innovation of technological resources and models of the process of caring in the different stages of the life cycle.
  • Health care networks and nursing care management: It includes interventions to strengthen networks, the care within the Unified Health System, public policies and nursing care management in different practice scenarios. It comprises interventions for the strengthening of organizational processes and evaluation of health technologies.
