About the program

The Graduate Program in Health Sciences is one of the oldest in operation at the university and aims to develop basic and clinical research in several areas in the field of health, training qualified human resources for teaching in higher education, enhancing research-oriented skills, and stimulating innovation, meeting the professional demands of the market (public and private sectors).

Graduate profile

The Graduate Program in Health Sciences aims to prepare researchers that are committed to the production and sharing of scientific knowledge. Health Sciences Program graduates will be prepared to teach and work in basic and/or clinical research in the fields of mental health, including drug abuse; obesity and diabetes; urological and cardiovascular diseases; maternal and child health; and health and environment. They will be trained on the search for new methods in cell therapy and on innovative practices in laboratory diagnostics, bioactive compounds and health education.

Infrastructure

UFCSPA’s Research Laboratories are multiuser environments, allowing several researchers at the institution to interact by using equipment distributed in different areas of the Research Center for Graduate Programs. The laboratories of Cell Biology; Molecular Biology; Oxidative Stress and Atmospheric Pollution; Pharmacology and Toxicology; Physiology; Cell Culture; Histochemistry and Immunohistochemistry; Pathology; Psychopharmacology; and Genetic Toxicology are available for students’ use. There is also an animal research facility for the exclusive use of the graduate programs, focused on the development of pre-clinical researches.
