Description of UFCSPA's grading system

10.0	Approved with maximum grade	Student completed the course with excellent performance.
7.0-9.9	Approved without a final exam	Student achieved the minimum grade for approval without a final exam (7.0).
6.0-6.9	Approved after a final exam	Student achieved the minimum grade to take a final exam (4.0). After the final exam, student reached the minimum average for approval (6.0).
0.0-5.9 (Reprovado com nota)	Failed due to grade	Student failed to reach the minimum average for approval (6.0), even after the final exam, or did not attend scheduled assessments.
Reprovado por frequência	Failed due to lack of attendance	Student failed to attend at least 75% of classes and other scheduled activities.

The Academic Assessment System employed by the Federal University of Health Sciences of Porto Alegre – UFCSPA is provided by the Section VI of University's General Regulation (Revision approved by the University Council at its meeting on September 25th, 2020), as follows:

“On The Teaching Planning and On The Student Learning Assessment

Article 151. The assessment of academic achievement shall be yielded by the systematic and continuous follow-up of the student’s performance over the course of the teaching and learning process.

Article 152. The curriculum of the Undergraduate Programs is comprised of mandatory and elective courses, internships and the extracurricular activities necessary for curriculum integration.

Article 153. Each course will be taught according to its learning plan, submitted, each academic term, to the Department and to the Undergraduate Committee, in accordance with the Program’s Pedagogical Project.

§ 1 The syllabus of each course should include, in addition to the synopsis, workload, objectives, contents, in the form of units or sequences, teaching methodology, format of learning experiences, assessment criteria of academic performance, basic and mandatory bibliography.

§ 2 The syllabus of each course must be made available to students at the beginning of each academic term and must remain available to the enrolled students during the whole academic term.

§ 3 Each course will be coordinated by a main professor, who will be administratively responsible for the course.

Article 154. Attendance to classes and to other academic activities, allowed only to those enrolled, is mandatory, being excused absences forbidden, except as provided by law.

§ 1 Regardless of other results, the student who does not obtain an attendance of at least 75% of classes and other scheduled activities is considered as having failed the course.

§ 2 Verification and registration of attendance is under the responsibility of the main professor.

Article 155. Academic performance shall be assessed by continuous monitoring of student learning and the results obtained in assessment activities and in the final exam.

Single paragraph. Course assessment tasks, in a minimum number of three, aim at progressive assessment of student learning and consist of written, oral and practical tests, as well as of other assessment verification activities, except for attendance valuation and scores which are already contemplated in the syllabus.

Article 156. Each performance assessment activity is graded separately, assigned a score expressed as a numerical grade of zero to ten.

§ 1 The student who fails to attend the assessment on the due date may be granted a second chance, when required within five business days after the date of assessment, if one of the following preventing situations is proven:

I – illness or health condition compromising the student’s presence in class;

II – grief due to the passing of spouse, partner, parents, grandparents, children, stepchildren, underage children under the student’s guardianship or tutelage and siblings; and

III – other civic or otherwise duties, provided they are defined in law and proven to be incompatible with participation in the assessment.

§ 2 Subject to the provisions of Paragraph 1, a zero is assigned to the student who fails to submit to the assessment provided in the data set, as well as the one who uses fraudulent means in the evaluation task.

§ 3 Review of scores may be granted when requested by the student within two business days of its release.

Article 157. The student who fulfills the following criteria is considered approved in the course:

I – Attendance equal to or greater than 75% of scheduled activities, reaching a final average equal to or greater than 7.0 (seven);
II – Attendance equal to or greater than 75% of classes taught, reaching, after the final exam, an average equal to or greater than 6.0 (six), as a result of applying the formula:

Final average after the exam = [(Average in the course × 6) + (Final exam grade × 4)] / 10

§ 1 The student who has obtained an attendance equal to or greater than 75% and an average lower than 7.0 (seven) and equal to or greater than 4.0 (four) will be eligible to take the exam.

§ 2 The averages are calculated to two decimal points without rounding.

§ 3 The student who does not achieve the results set out in sections I and II of the caput of this article will fail the course.”

O que é?

O Projeto Amigo Internacional é uma iniciativa do Escritório de Internacionalização e da Comissão de Internacionalização da UFCSPA. O objetivo do projeto é proporcionar o enriquecimento cultural e a prática de línguas estrangeiras por meio do contato com estudantes estrangeiros. Estudantes, professores e técnicos-administrativos da UFCSPA podem se voluntariar como Amigos Internacionais.

Os participantes auxiliarão os estudantes estrangeiros desde antes de sua chegada, repassando informações importantes para sua estadia na cidade, acompanhando-os em atividades de turismo, cultura e lazer, esclarecendo dúvidas sobre os procedimentos para permanência no Brasil, entre outras formas de cooperação.

Como participar?

Estudantes, professores e técnicos-administrativos da UFCSPA podem se inscrever para participar do projeto Amigo Internacional até o dia 11/01/26, através deste formulário. Esta chamada selecionará os voluntários que acompanharão os estudantes chegando à UFCSPA no primeiro semestre de 2026. Os voluntários inscritos deverão participar de uma reunião de preparação às 14h do dia 13/01/26, em formato virtual, durante a qual receberão orientações sobre o projeto. A presença na reunião é obrigatória.
