Biography

Márcia Rosângela Wink is an associate professor tenure of the Health Basic Sciences department at the Universidade Federal de Ciências da Saúde de Porto Alegre (2006), where she teaches basic biochemistry and coordinates the Cell Biology Lab. She holds an academic degree in Pharmacy from the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) (1996), an Sc.D. (1999) and a Ph.D (2003) in Biological Sciences (Biochemistry) from the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, as well. During her PhD program, she spent one year (CNPq PhD sandwich fellowship) at Harvard University, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston (2002), under the supervision of Simon C. Robson. The PhD was done at the same Lab in Harvard in 2003-2004. She is a CNPq Productivity Researcher (2), consultant of CAPES, CNPq and FAPERGS and referee of several international journals.


Reasearch Interest

With a research interest in cancer cell biology and regeneration, her projects involve basic research and pre-clinical models, with the objective of understanding the role of purinergic signaling in tumor microenvironment. Besides, she is also engaged in group studies in basic biology of mesenchymal stem cells and their potential as tools to release therapeutic proteins to modulate the level of nucleotides at glioblastomas microenvironment. These projects are the research subjects of PhD, Master, scientific initiation and undergrade students under her supervision at UFCSPA.
