Biography

Maria Cristina de Almeida Freitas Cardoso has been a professor of the Speech-language and Hearing department at the Federal University of Health Sciences of Porto Alegre since 2011. She holds an academic degree in Speech-language and Hearing Science from the Universidade do Sagrado Coração (1984), a Master’s degree in Human Communication Diorders from the Universidade Federal de Santa Maria – UFSM (2004), and a PhD in Biomedical Gerontology from the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul – PUCRS (2010), and a training course in Bioethics from the Yale Interdisciplinary Center for Bioethics – Yale University (2016). 

Reasearch Interest

With a research interest in rehabilitation, her projects involve applied clinical research, musculoskeletal problems and disability, deglutition and respiratory diseases, as well as in craniofacial malformations. She also has experience in deglutition physiology, respiratory physiology, working mainly in the following subjects: rehabilitation, deglutition and respiratory physiology, deglutition diseases, respiratory diseases, craniofacial malformation rehabilitation and bioethics.
